In a major offensive, Army on Tuesday killed 13 Pakistani militants and lost six of their men in an encounter in Doda Hills of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said here. Acting on specific information that a large group of foreign militants, mostly Pakistanis of different outfits, were attending a meeting of command council, the troops laid a cordon in the Bharat Forest area early on Tuesday and commenced searches to track down the militants in most difficult dense forest belt. The soldiers asked the militants hiding in the dense woods to surrender, but they fired rifle grenades and opened heavy fire on the troops. The troops returned the fire and in the ensuing fierce gunbattle, in which militants fired a few rockets targeting army petrol parties, 13 ultras and six security personnel were killed.
