An Italian tourist was shot and killed on Wednesday in a taxi on a main road in southern Afghanistan, apparently by Taliban gunmen, in the second such killing of a foreign civilian in the region in two weeks, a provincial governor said today. The victim was identified as Orfeo Bartolini, who was in his late 40’s or early 50’s, the Italian ambassador in Kabul told Reuters. “You can assume it wasn’t an accident,” said the ambassador, Dominico Georgi. “He was killed.
