For the first time, security forces discovered the existence of an Islamic Jihad bomb making laboratory within Israel. Three Israeli Arabs from Jaljulya were allegedly involved in plans to smuggle in a suicide bomber and detonate a car bomb at an IDF base. Attorney General Elyakim Rubinstein warned against labeling all Israeli Arabs as terrorists. According to the indictment submitted by the Central District Attorney’s Office yesterday, Muhammad Matsri, 21, met with Islamic Jihad leaders in Tulkarm and agreed to help them detonate a car bomb in Israel. In order to do so, he bought explosives to build a bomb in his Jaljulya home and looked for ways to smuggle a suicide bomber and car into Israel. Matsri is the son of a Palestinian woman from Kalkilya who was married to an Israeli Arab. Matsri’s Israeli identity card enabled easy passage between Israel and the territories. He enlisted his friend, Iman Abu Kishak, who suggested detonating the car bomb at the Tzrifin military base in central Israel. Another friend, Fadel Abed, was asked to provide lodging for the bomber.
