Two Egyptians and two Kurds suspected of links with the Ansar-al-Islam terror group in northern Iraq have been arrested, a police source said on Tuesday. The police source, in Milan, confirmed the arrests, which were believed to have taken place during the night, following a detailed story about the operation in the Milan daily Corriere della Sera. The source, a member of Milan’s anti-terror police, said no more details could be given because the operation was still going on. According to the Milan newspaper, the four were preparing to leave Italy for northern Iraq. They were arrested after a police operation that reportedly intercepted conversations made by satellite phone, the newspaper reported. It said police from a special anti-terrorism unit had intercepted calls between the men and villages in northern Iraq.
