Three variants of the Lovgate email worm have been found since February 24, with the most recent being on March 25, and one of them, Lovgate.F. is showing an increased number of infections, anti-virus software maker F-Secure says. Lovgate.F is an e-mail and network worm with backdoor capabilities. It attempts to gain remote access using a longer list of passwords than previous variants. Lovgate.C was discovered on on February 24, Lovgate.F on March 24 and Lovgate.G on March 25, the company said. Apart from having a longer list of passwords to try when attempting to gain access to shared resources, Lovgate.F also has all the attributes of its earlier variant, Lovgate.B. Full Story
