Microsoft has released details of what it calls an “important” flaw in Windows NT 4, 2000 and XP, and advised users to patch their systems as soon as they can as the vulnerability could result in a denial of service. The flaw is in the remote procedure call (RPC) protocol used by the Windows operating system. It provides a means of communication between processes that allows a program running on one computer to run code on a remote system.
