Unidentified militants attacked a police station triggering in an exchange of fire between the rebels and the police in Senapati district of Manipur early on Friday. Official sources said that heavily-armed militants opened fire at the Kangpokpi police station, about 35 km north of here on the Imphal-Guwahati national highway at about 1 am. Police retaliated and the exchange of fire lasted more than an hour, the sources said. There was no casualty on the side of the police.
