Kenyan police detained a suspected member of al-Qaida for questioning in several East Africa terrorist attacks, an official said Wednesday. The man, who was not identified, was captured with the help of factions in neighboring Somalia, Minister of National Security Chris Murungaru said. “This particular arrest was a joint effort by our security agents and some peace loving Somali leaders who did not want to see terrorists operate in their country,” Murungaru said in a statement. Somalia, listed by the United States as a possible terrorist haven, has been without effective government for more than a decade.
