Britain warned its citizens on Monday of an increased risk of terror attacks in the United Arab Emirates, a day after the United States issued a similar warning for Dubai, the Gulf’s tourism hub. “We believe that the UAE, in common with all the Gulf region, is a place where the threat to British individuals and organizations from terrorism is now high. It will rise further in the event of hostilities with Iraq,” said a travel advisory. “You should maintain a high level of vigilance, particularly in public places frequented by foreigners such as hotels, restaurants and shopping malls. There is heightened concern about potential threats in places of entertainment,” it added. A British embassy official told Reuters that the new advisory was based “on the same information” received by the U.S. embassy, which on Sunday said it had received indications of a possible “terrorist” attack against night clubs in Dubai.
