Police in Indian-administered Kashmir say at least six militants have been killed in a gunbattle with Indan security forces. The violence comes just a day after nine policemen and two civilians were killed in an attack on a police post in the state’s Jammu region. Separatist militants based in Pakistani-administered Kashmir have said they carried out the attack. It came hours after separatists held talks with India’s opposition leader, Sonia Gandhi, on ways to resolve the dispute. The discussion in Delhi marked the first high-level meeting between separatists and a prominent politician for several months.
