More than two weeks after he was snatched near his home, businessman Saran Kissoondan was released here unhurt, police confirmed on Wednesday 12 March . However, lawmen remained tight-lipped as to whether his family had paid part of the 3m-TT- Trinidad and Tobago -dollar (500,000 US dollars) ransom demanded by his abductors. Police said that Kissoondan was released in Central Trinidad during the early hours on Wednesday, but gave no further details. Kissoondan, the owner of a used car business, was abducted in the presence of his wife and two sons late last month and there have been conflicting media reports that family members had paid 1m TT dollars (160,000 US dollars) for his release over the last weekend.
