Prime Minister John Howard today warned the world faced a cocktail of terror weapons if it failed to stop Iraq, as New Zealanders protested on the streets against the Australian government. Mr Howard, on the last day of his trip to New Zealand, said failure to stop Iraq would ultimately lead to rogue states supplying terrorists with chemical and biological weapons. But his argument failed to sway New Zealanders, who staged a noisy protest outside the Kiwi parliament as Mr Howard was speaking. And anti-war protesters used the character Gollum from the Lord of the Rings to make their point, dangling an effigy of Mr Howard from the creature’s paws outside a local cinema. Concerns over Mr Howard’s security were in evidence today with police marksmen stationed in a belltower at Wellington’s war memorial and on top of the parliament.
