BOMB THREATS spread via text message swept the commercial business district of Makati on Friday and forced tight security in some buildings alleged to be targets of the attacks. Cars were double-checked and canine dogs were deployed in some buildings along the Ayala Avenue as security guards requested workers in the buildings to display their IDs properly. Senior Superintendent Oscar Valenzuela, director of the Philippine National Police (PNP) community relations group, said the PNP received the text messages around noontime and had it “forwarded to concerned units.” “We checked and verified the information. As of 3 PM, we can say this message was a hoax,” Velenzuela told INQ7.net. According to the text message, “a series of bombs” were set to go off Friday in the following buildings in Makati: Philippine Stock Exchange, Enterprise Center, Citibank, Philippine Long Distance Telephone (PLDT), Rufino, Glorietta and Shellhouse.
