The Pentagon’s train platform remains shut down Wednesday after a suspicious black book bag was found at 1 p.m. near the escalators used by commuters, Pentagon and police sources said. The bag is being swabbed for explosives or contamination, according to Pentagon spokeswoman Cheryl Irwin. Pentagon security forces have cordoned off the entrance to the train station with yellow tape, both inside the Pentagon and outside in the parking lot. Two specially trained crews have been dispatched to deal with the bag — an explosive ordnance disposal unit from nearby Ft. McNair, Va., and a chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear hazard response team from the Pentagon. Full Story
