Three Rwandans have been arrested and flown to the United States over the 1999 killing of western tourists in Uganda. Eight tourists from the US, UK and New Zealand were allegedly brutally killed by ethnic Hutu Rwandan rebels because of US and British support for the Tutsi government in Kigali. They were killed as they tracked rare mountain gorillas in Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The three men were flown on Saturday from Rwanda to Puerto Rico, where they are due to be charged before being transferred to Washington. The indictment was kept secret until Monday and also includes the alleged murder of one of the park’s guards. It was made public as Rwandan President Paul Kagame began a four-day visit to Washington.
