Contrary to some recent news reports, the TK worm is still widespread in the wild. The TK worm was developed by members of the Thr34t Krew to host warez servers and perform distributed denial-of-service attacks against specific targets. The TK worm may also have been used in a recent DDoS attack against the DALnet Internet relay chat network, but this is unsubstantiated to date. Authorities have seized control of the DDoS component of this worm, and it no longer poses a threat. Authorities have redirected all TK worm bots to a server managed by officials investigating the case. As such, remote attackers can no longer control the worm bot.
