Iraq has plans to attack and kidnap Kuwaiti border police to disrupt the emirate’s security, the Kuwaiti interior minister said Monday. His allegation came as tensions mounted between Iraq and the United States, which plans to use Kuwait as a key base for a potential war with Iraq. Sheik Mohammed Al Khaled Al Sabah, the interior minister, said Iraqi officials held a meeting last month at which they decided to target Kuwaiti border police. In response, Kuwait tightened security along its 217-kilometer (136-mile) long border with Iraq, Sheik Mohammed said. During a press conference in a tent a few kilometers (miles) from the Iraqi border, the minister brushed aside questions about the threat to Kuwait from Iraqi missiles. “Kuwait is protected by a high-tech Patriot anti-missile system,” he said. “Let’s stop spreading rumors about Kuwait.
