The public prosecutor at the Court of Appeal of Casablanca on Tuesday requested maximum sentence for suspected members of a dormant cell of the Al-Qaeda network. The prosecutor stressed in his indictment that the “proofs were cogent against the cell members,” noting that the group were planning “terror attacks” that “threatened the stability, security and peace Morocco enjoys.” The group, including three Saudis and seven Moroccans, were arrested last June and are facing charges of preparing terrorist acts in Morocco and against western ships crossing the Gibraltar strait.
