An unidentified gunman shot dead the deputy governor of Saudi Arabia’s northern Jouf Province today, a Saudi Interior Ministry official said. The official told the state-run Saudi Press Agency that the deputy governor, Hamad bin Abdel Rahman al-Wardi, was driving to work early in the morning when his car was riddled with gunfire. In September, a judge was shot dead in the same province as he left a mosque after Friday Prayers. A Saudi man was arrested for the assassination shortly afterward but the authorities did not disclose any possible motive. Killings of officials are rare in conservative Saudi Arabia, which has seen a string of bomb attacks against Westerners in recent years. Full Story
