Security zones have been set up around parts of the Golden Gate and San Francisco-Oakland Bay bridges after the government raised the terrorist alert level to “high-risk” orange. Unauthorized people and vessels are barred from the zones, which extend 25 yards around the piers, abutments, fenders, and pilings of the two bridges, the Coast Guard said Friday. It is the first time security zones have been established in waters around the bridges, said Coast Guard Lieutenant j.g. Kelly Thorkilson.
