U.S. to Review Need for 'High' Terror Threat Alert
The U.S. government will review in coming days the need for keeping the country on the second-highest level of terror threat alert, a senior U.S. official said on Friday. The official said Thursday’s end of the Islamic Haj pilgrimage season, to which the heightened threat was linked, would make it possible to review the state of alert. “What we will be doing over the next period of time is taking a real hard look at how long we need to stay at this level,” the official told reporters at a briefing on national counter-terrorism strategy.
