A bomb hidden as part of an assassination plot against the president exploded today during a police raid on a guerrilla hideout, killing 15 people and injuring 30 others, Colombian officials said. The predawn explosion in a house in the provincial city of Neiva, 145 miles south of Bogota, the capital, came a day before the planned arrival of President Alvaro Uribe, who was scheduled to visit the city for community forum on regional security issues. National Police and regional prosecutors staged the raid following tips that the location was being prepared as a staging area for an attack on Uribe.
