Since the administration put the nation on “high” terror alert on Friday, the White House has tightened its practice of keeping President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney apart, aides said today. Immediately after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, Mr. Cheney spent prolonged periods at one of several secure undisclosed locations. Mr. Cheney has rarely used these hideaways in the last year or so. But for security reasons, he and the president adopted a daily routine to avoid being in close proximity to each other. Full Story
