Malaysia’s Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad, an influential moderate Muslim leader, said Wednesday that Muslims should not rush to Iraq to fight against U.S. troops on Baghdad’s behalf. “It’s a stupid idea,” Mahathir was quoted as saying by the national news agency Bernama. “If we go (to Iraq) just like that, I don’t see any benefit from it apart from merely venting our anger.” Malaysia, a modern Southeast Asian country of 23 million people, has a Muslim majority.
