Two prominent Jewish organizations yesterday warned Jewish schools, senior citizen centers, and synagogues around Massachusetts to be on alert after the latest terrorist threat, urging them to revisit security procedures and keep in close contact with police. The advisory by the Anti-Defamation League of New England and the Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Boston came on the heels of a national security alert on Friday in which officials said Jewish communities or institutions could be targeted. ”This is an apprehensive time,” said Rob Leikind, director of the New England chapter of the Anti-Defamation League. ”Jews face particular threats because many of the proponents of terrorism also espouse anti-Semitic hatred.” The security advisory, which also was sent to Jewish community centers, youth programs, and individual rabbis, urged Jewish leaders to update security plans and contact local police with questions about increasing security.
