Pakistan accused of breaking pledge on terror
Atal Behari Vajpayee, India’s prime minister, on Sunday accused neighbouring Pakistan of failing to deliver on a promise last year to put an end to cross-border terrorism. His remarks followed India’s decision on Saturday to expel Jalil Jilani, Pakistan’s acting high commissioner, whom New Delhi alleges handed over cash to a representative of a separatist group from the disputed province of Kashmir. Mr Jilani, who is accused of having conducted the transaction on the Pakistan high commission’s premises in New Delhi, was given just 48 hours to leave the country.
