Hackers may have ability to intercept telephone calls that were directed at companies who used Chunghwa Telecom’s “operator” service, a Chunghwa Telecom spokesman said yesterday. The spokesman said the “operator” service, which enabled companies with no real telephone operator to have their calls screened and transferred to different extensions, can be easily hacked into if the users did not alter the initial security identification numbers from the usual “0000′, “9999” or “1234.” The telecommunication company discovered the illegal hacking activity after it first received complaints from users of the service a month ago.
