The Kenyan and Ugandan governments will conduct joint operations along their common border to impound illegally possessed firearms. Trans Nzoia District Commissioner (DC) George MacGoye said the two countries were determined to stop the proliferation of firearms within the Great Lakes region to enhance peace and economic stability. Mr. MacGoye said those owning the weapons illegally were free to surrender them to the authorities of the two nations but warned that the arms will be retrieved forcefully if the order was not complied with.
