The U.S. government will put the country on the second-highest level of security alert on Friday because of an increased risk of terror attacks, U.S. officials said. The officials, who spokes on condition of anonymity, said the level was being raised in response to increased intelligence reports on the possibility of terrorist attacks. The last increase in the color-coded threat level, to orange from yellow, was on Sept. 10, 2002, right before the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, hijacked plane attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.
