German police arrest three terror suspects

German authorities on Thursday said they were questioning three men suspected of forming an Islamic extremist terror group, including one who is believed to have supported the Hamburg-based cell of the September 11 hijackers, which included lead hijacker Mohammed Atta. Police detained the men during raids on premises in the western cities of Münster and Minden. Members of the group are suspected of planning attacks in Germany at the end of 2001 or the beginning of 2002, including “on a US installation in the Frankfurt metropolitan area,” federal prosecutors said. However, they said there was currently no evidence that the group was directly involved in the September 11 2001 attacks in New York and Washington. Full Story
