'Baby of al-Qaeda' raised inside Iraq

The proof tying Saddam Hussein to al-Qaeda terrorists lies just over a dun-colored ridge here in the shadow of towering Shinerwe Mountain, Iraq’s ethnic Kurds say. The valley beneath the peak holds the village of Biara and 13 other hamlets controlled by a bloody extremist group known as Ansar al-Islam. Security officials, politicians and militia commanders in the Kurdish-run zone of northern Iraq say Ansar was formed at the urging of Osama bin Laden’s deputies and receives advice, logistical help and weapons — including chemical arms — from Baghdad.
