Eight people have been arrested by police, following the deadly explosion which ripped through the business district of Lagos on Sunday, according to the authorities. Detonators from explosive devices were subsequently found near the scene of the blast. Officials say the find could suggest that an illegal cache of explosives caught fire, triggering the blast in which at least 33 people were killed. But police are not ruling out that a bomb may have been planted. Lagos police spokesman Emmanuel Ighodalo said on Thursday that some of the blast materiel discovered is of the type used in blasting quarries. “The bomb experts are still carrying out tests and we can’t say conclusively at this time the exact nature of all the devices,” he said.
