Ivorian Rebels Issue New Threat

Rebels in Ivory Coast say they will start fighting again if President Laurent Gbagbo fails to implement a French-brokered peace deal immediately. The chief negotiator for the Patriotic Movement of Ivory Coast, Guillaume Soro, said the patience of the rebel movement was running out. His movement would meet two other rebel groups on Thursday in the western town of Man to discuss the crisis. France has urged President Gbagbo to respect the peace plan. The president himself is yet to pronounce on the deal. But on Sunday, one of his aides said it was unacceptable to the Ivorian people and would have to be renegotiated. Full Story
