One of the two factions controlling Iraqi Kurdistan has shifted US journalists to a safe location following fears of an attack on American nationals by alleged Al Qaeda linked rebels, officials said Thursday. Around 10 US nationals were ordered out of Sulaymaniya’s main hotel by officials from the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) backed by heavily armed guards late on Wednesday. Non-US nationals were not asked to leave the hotel. However, about a dozen non-US journalists, including an AFP correspondent with a European passport, were not asked to evacuate the hotel.
