9/11 Spouses to Confront Accused in German Court

The spouses of two September 11 victims will confront the alleged paymaster of the attacks next week in Germany when they testify in the trial of the man charged as an accessory to 3,045 murders, their lawyers said on Friday. Thursday’s testimony will be the first time victims’ relatives, who are also co-plaintiffs in the case, come face-to-face with alleged co-conspirator Mounir El Motassadeq. Prosecutors say the 28-year-old Moroccan electrical engineering student was a vital cog in the Hamburg al Qaeda cell allegedly run by Mohamed Atta, who U.S. authorities believe flew the first plane that smashed into the World Trade Center.
