Palestinian Groups Talks in Egypt Seen on Thursday

Landmark talks between a broad range of Palestinian factions were expected to go ahead in Egypt Thursday, a day later than planned, after a last minute dispute over who would attend. The talks, which will discuss an Egyptian proposal for stopping attacks inside Israel, looked threatened when two key Islamic militant groups, Hamas and Islamic Jihad, said they would not attend because not all factions had been invited. They later backtracked, saying a deal had been reached. Osama Hamdan, the Hamas representative in Lebanon, said: “We are going to leave Beirut to Cairo today to resume the talks that might take place tomorrow (Thursday).” Full Story
