Jailed leaders of Egypt`s most militant Islamic group urged fellow members abroad to back calls for a truce and an end to violence. In a statement published Saturday in the London-based pan-Arab Al-Hayat newspaper, the leaders of al-Gamaa al-Islamiyya, or Islamic Group, urged other members to “declare a clear and obvious position” to the 1997 truce call.
