The US House of Representatives has approved a computer crime bill that would allow life sentences for hackers. However, the new legislation is unlikely to prove an effective deterrent to international computer crime, say experts. The bill is designed to combat malicious intrusions, denial of service attacks and computer terrorism. It would also extend the powers of law enforcement agencies to conduct Internet and telephone surveillance without the need to obtain a court order in certain circumstances. Full Story
