Muslim leader warns of Islamic State stronghold in Philippines

“The head of the Philippines’ largest rebel Muslim organisation has warned that Islamic State has moved to establish a stronghold in the country’s violence-racked southern islands. Murad Ebrahim, chairman of the 11,000-strong Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), said the extremist Middle East-headquartered group was tapping into frustration among Muslim groups at the failure of the Philippine Congress to pass an autonomy bill for Mindanao.”
