US loses Predator UAV over Iraq

“A US Air Force (USAF) General Atomics Aeronautical Systems MQ-1 Predator unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) crashed in Iraq on 7 January, the service has confirmed. The UAV was flying a combat mission over central Iraq when control was lost, and the aircraft crashed. The USAF did not disclose a cause for the mishap, except to say that it was not due to enemy fire and that the UAV was not in enemy hands.”
