“The Chinese government has issued a strong condemnation of a new US cyber security strategy document which, among other things, singles out Beijing for carrying out cyber espionage against American companies and government agencies.
In a press briefing, Chinese Defence Ministry spokesperson Geng Yansheng said: ‘We are following the new US cyber security strategy and [are] concerned about it… The report makes groundless accusations about China, and we resolutely oppose it.’
Geng said China had also been the victim of cyber attacks, and accused the US of double standards. ‘We oppose turning cyberspace into a new battlefield,’ state news agency Xinhua quoted Geng as saying.
