“Birmingham city council has broadened its investigation into alleged attempts by hardline Muslims to take control of local schools, with 25 schools now under scrutiny. The accusations first came to light in an anonymous leaked letter from a Birmingham resident to a contact in Bradford, which appeared to set out a strategy for taking over governing bodies and ousting head teachers at secular schools. The ringleaders reportedly called the plan ‘Operation Trojan Horse’. As the allegations have gained momentum, the Department for Education said it had asked Ofsted to inspect 15 schools in relation to concerns that learning was being derailed by religious conservatism.”
