Russia to Establish Arctic Military Command

“Russia will establish a new strategic military command in the Arctic by the end of the year, according to local news reports. RIA Novosti, citing a high ranking official in Russia’s General Staff, said the new force would be called the Northern Fleet-Unified Strategic Command. The news agency quoted the source as saying: ‘The new command will comprise the Northern Fleet, Arctic warfare brigades, air force and air defense units as well as additional administrative structures.’”
