Canadian journalist quits Xinhua after being told to spy on Dalai Lama

“That Chinese journalists posted abroad are not just journalists but also intelligence agents for their government is an open secret. However, recruiting foreigners to perform this role has not been reported to be known until now.  In an article published in Ottawa Magazine, and in an interview with The Canadian Press, Ottawa-based freelance journalist and author Mark Bourrie has said he quit working for China’s principal news agency Xinhua because it wanted him to spy on the Dalai Lama during his recent visit to Ottawa, reported montrealgazette.com Aug 22.
