UN: $24.2 billion needed for humanitarian assistance in 2018
The Global Humanitarian Overview 2018 published by the UN’s Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has estimated a global need of $24.2 billion in humanitarian assistance and protection for 128 million people. Key drivers of the increasing projections are the ongoing refugee crisis, with 22.5 million currently registered (half under age 18), and the increase in natural disasters, especially threatening to food scarce areas at risk of drought.
