“West Africa’s 2014 Ebola epidemic was the deadliest outbreak of the disease since its discovery in 1976. Liberia was the country hit hardest during the outbreak, reporting between 300 and 400 new cases each week at the epidemic’s peak. The World Health Organization announced in January 2016 that Liberia was Ebola-free, making it the last country to be affected. However, despite the physical absence of the disease, hospitals in Liberia are still dealing with the epidemic’s aftermath.”
