The forces of East Libya announced the recapture of oil points Es Sider and Ras Lanuf after their occupation and closure by opposing rebel groups last Thursday. The closure reduced production by 450,000 barrels per day in a conflict that has continued to impact the global cost of oil as a split government battles with a variety of armed groups for control of territory. The head of Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC) said that operations should “hopefully” resume in a “couple of days.”
