Brazil Deploys Vast World Cup Security Plan

“Brazil will spend $855 million on security and safety and deploy 57,000 troops during the World Cup, which the country will host starting next month, the government said. Security for the soccer tournament also includes 100,000 police and the purchase of new equipment and ‘mainly nonlethal weaponry,’ Defense Minister Celso Amorim said on Friday.”
