“The U.S. Embassy wishes to remind all U.S. citizens of the high risk of kidnapping throughout Yemen. As reported in local and international media, three Westerners were abducted on December 21, 2012 in the Tahrir Square area of Sana’a, a governmental and commercial center.
At this time, the Department of State continues to urge U.S. citizens not to travel to Yemen. U.S. citizens in Yemen should depart. U.S. citizens remaining in Yemen should exercise caution and take prudent security measures, including maintaining a high level of vigilance, avoiding crowds and demonstrations, keeping a low profile, varying times and routes for all travel, reviewing personal security plans, and making contingency emergency plans such as ensuring travel documents are current. “
