AT&T recently published a Cybersecurity Insights Report, which found that many businesses are not prepared for a data acceleration to 5G. The report states that enterprises are lacking the expansion of virtualization and software-defined networking (SDN) capabilities. Only 16% of survey respondents said they have already began preparing for 5G deployment, and almost all employees surveyed stated that they expected to adopt security policies to address 5G within the next five years.
For 44% of respondents, a larger attack surface was the main concern of 5G deployment. To prepare for 5G, AT&T states that big companies mush improve vulnerability management programs and improve virtualization. There are 274 petabytes of data across the AT&T network each day, and this number is expected to multiply ten times with 5G.
